Arca
Arca
In a way, a triptych: in any case, the artistic evolution of Alejandro Ghersi, which began with his debut "Xen" in 2014 and ran its course with "Mutant" in 2015, seems to have found a conclusion in 2017 with the release of "Arca". The third album of the Venezuelan-born and London-based artist is the first release on the British indie label XL. It was inspired by long walks through a Victorian cemetery in Abney Park. The cemetery is one of London's largest and a meeting place for the gay scene.
On older mixtapes Arca could already be heard rapping, now he has also "officially" expanded his sound cosmos with his own singing voice. This is probably the reason why Arca named his third album after himself. After all, this one has become extremely personal musically and especially lyrically. Spanish is the language of his youth and the language that has influenced him the most - both positively and negatively. As with the two previous works, the artwork is by Jesse Kanda.
