Beth Gibbons
Lives Outgrown
Beth Gibbons releases her first solo album "Lives Outgrown" in May 2024. The album contains 10 beautiful new tracks recorded over a period of 10 years. The album was produced by James Ford & Beth Gibbons with additional production by Lee Harris (Talk Talk).
"Lives Outgrown" is in some ways Beth's most personal work to date, the result of a period of ongoing reflection and change - "lots of goodbyes" as Beth says. Goodbyes to family, to friends, even to her former self. These are songs from mid-life, when looking forward doesn't bring as much as it used to and looking back suddenly has a sharper focus.
The songs are about motherhood, anxiety and the menopause (which Beth describes sometimes as a "massive trial" and sometimes as a "massive drop" that "brings you to your knees") as well as, inevitably, mortality.
But after this decade of change and realignment, Beth feels she has found a new purpose. "Now that I've come to the other end, I just think you have to be brave," she says.
