It's taken a while, but now "The Record", the first full album by Boygenius, has finally been released. That's the way it is when you're dealing with a supergroup. As the musicians Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus each have successful solo careers, five years had to pass before a gap could be found in their schedules.
Before Boygenius existed, the three were fans of each other and then became friends. For a joint co-headlining tour in 2018, Bridgers, Baker and Dacus originally only wanted to record one song together so that they could perform it together on stage. But the work in the studio was so uncomplicated and productive that four days later the six songs for their highly acclaimed "Boygenius EP" were in the can.
After that, however, the musicians returned to their solo music and each released successful albums. They reappeared as Boygenius in November 2021, after a break of almost three years. Now their debut album "The Record" is finally in the starting blocks.
