Now "Ghost Song", the new album by singer-songwriter Cécile McLorin Salvant, is released. "Ghost Song" includes a diverse mix of seven new compositions and five song interpretations that thematically revolve around ghosts, nostalgia and desire. "This album is different from anything I've released before," Salvant explains. "It brings me closer to reflecting on my personality as a curator of the complex. I am embracing my strangeness, if you will." Of the title track, "Ghost Song," Salvant says, "What happens when love has said goodbye, left you, but your feelings, like ghosts, command you to let that love continue to take you? Some songs require effort before they emerge, but this piece came together pretty quickly. In the past few years, I've had to face the death of my grandmother and my band's drummer, Lawrence Leathers."
