On May 24, 2024, exactly on the day of the Golden Jubilee, "Diamond Dogs" will be released as a limited edition anniversary LP with half-speed mastering and as a picture disc LP pressed from the same master. The album's first single, the aforementioned "Rebel Rebel", reached #5 in the UK, and the album reached similar heights on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching #1 in the UK and #5 in the US.

The making of the album was influenced by Bowie's inability to secure the rights to a theatrical production of George Orwell's 1984, as well as the work of William S. Burroughs, whom Bowie had interviewed for Rolling Stone in November 1973. The album's songs created an urban, apocalyptic scenario, with Bowie appearing on the cover as a controversial half-human-dog hybrid painted by Belgian artist Guy Peellaert from photographs by world-famous photographer Terry O'Neill. Since its release, tracks from Diamond Dogs have been covered by artists such as Beck, Tina Turner, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Joan As Police Woman, Dead Or Alive and The Struts.
