The tenth album of Spoon is called "Lucifer on the Sofa" and is probably the purest rock'n'roll output of the band so far. After more than a decade, it's the first album the band has recorded in their hometown of Austin. Spoon's rawest and loudest songs were written and produced in the last two years

The first single is called "The Hardest Cut" and it's an unpolished, like classic rock song. Because "Lucifer on the Sofa" should be a kind of "back to the basics" album with hard edges. With "Wild", "The Devil & Mister Jones", "The Radio" and "The Hardest Cut" at least four future Spoon classics were created

While the last Spoon album, "Hot Thoughts" (2017) was dominated by drum computers and synthesizers, the band fell in love with the raw and noisy stage sound of their songs during the accompanying tour. "I liked the direction we were going with 'Hot Thoughts' - it had a certain style and broke new ground for us - but we kept noticing on the road that the live versions of the songs outperformed the album versions," says frontman Britt Daniel. "And that got us thinking: the best rock music isn't about choosing the right patches and triggering samples. It's about what happens in a room."
