Baden Powell was one of the most prominent and celebrated Brazilian guitarists Guitarists and guitar composers of his time. He combined classical Techniques with popular harmony and swing, and performed in many styles including bossa nova, samba, Brazilian jazz, Latin jazz. Baden Powell composed many beautiful pieces for guitar, such as "Samba Triste", "Consolação" (both can be heard here), "Abração em Madrid", "Braziliense", "Canto de Ossanha", "Casa Velha", "Horizon", "Imagem", "Lotus", "Simplesmente", "Tristeza e solidão" and "Xangô".

This release presents one of his best albums as a leader, Á Vontade (Elenco ME-11), which includes versions of hits such as "Garôta de Ipanema", "Berimbau" and the aforementioned "Samba triste".
