Blossoms
Gary
Stockport's finest indie-pop quintet return with their most adventurous and liberated album yet - a party record that doesn't take itself too seriously while showcasing remarkable musical growth. Released in 2024, Gary marks Blossoms' fifth studio album and their first on their own ODD SK Records label, giving them creative freedom to explore new sonic territories.
The album takes its name from an unlikely source - an 8-foot fiberglass gorilla stolen from a Scottish garden centre, which inspired the delightfully absurd title track. This playful approach runs throughout the record, which blends their beloved indie-pop foundations with funk influences, disco grooves, and gleaming synth-pop elements. Working with producer James Skelly (The Coral) and collaborating with dance duo Jungle on select tracks, the band has crafted their most polished and confident statement. Standout tracks include the funk-driven "What Can I Say After I'm Sorry?" and the CMAT collaboration "I Like Your Look," which showcases their willingness to experiment while maintaining their signature charm. Gary represents modern British indie-pop at its finest - music that makes you smile, connecting to young and old alike. This is perfect for fans of contemporary guitar music who appreciate both musical sophistication and genuine joy.
