"Recoiled" is an unbridled alchemy of Coil's magical sensibility and the high-tech home mixing technique of the 1990s, all fused in the studios of Danny Hyde / Peter Christopherson. These were the unbridled pre-big studio mix-downs of four songs that longtime Coil admirer and collaborator Trent Reznor asked them to remix. Reznor sent the original multi-tracks and DATs to Hyde / Christopherson, who mixed versions independently and then met to synchronize both creations, molding them into these master versions. "Recoiled" includes a fuller and more opulent version of the track "Closer," which ended up appearing in the opening credits of the film "Se7en". These 5 lengthy compositions are priestly song creations of the pre-Ableton / laptop generation type, using baby monitors and numerous cables to create custom effects. These legendary tracks were always rumored to exist and, only through the due diligence of a dedicated NIN forum that hunted them down, are they released for your listening pleasure. 4 of the tracks were published on the "Uncoiled" disc, download only.
