"I've lost count of how many times I've been asked. If I could do it again, what would I change? It's a difficult question and sometimes an unfair one for an artist. Because when we look back - hindsight is always 20/20 and we know everything and are familiar with the Monday morning quarterback discussion where everyone knows where they should have thrown or kicked the ball. What the hell did I know when I went into the recording studio to record my first album in 1976? The answer is nothing, and I can honestly admit that hasn't really changed 10 years or 20 years later. With every album I've recorded or tour I've completed, I've gained more and more knowledge and experience and I always wish I'd known it all at the beginning. I often listen to my many previous solo albums and tell myself I should have sung it that way or changed the melody that way. At the same time, I accept that it was the best thing I could have done at that moment! I worked with what I had and what I knew. This life doesn't often give you a second time around, but when it does - consider yourself lucky and go for it. The songs on 'Second Time Around' have been with me for a long time. I remember writing the first song 'When She Cries' the day after my daughter Isabel was born on October 2, 2005. It was like a whole new door was opened and all those songs came out over the next few months along with a whole bunch of other songs that all ended up on different albums. You could say it was the most creative time in my 44 years in the rock'n'roll uniform.
