"Hours" is the 21st album by David Bowie from 1999, released at that time on Virgin. It was his first album for this label and also the first album of a famous artist, which was completely available on the Internet 2 weeks in advance as a download.

Much of the material was designed in other versions for the video game 'Omikron: The NomadSoul, in which 2 characters are based on David.

Although it was David Bowie's first studio album since the early 1970s not to reach the Top 40 on the U.S. charts, Hours was a worldwide success overall, reaching the Top 10 in more than half a dozen countries. At the beginning of the new millennium, Bowie continued to experiment with an album planned for 2000 called Toy, which was to include new versions of some of Bowie's earliest tracks. However, this album was never released, and Bowie turned to a new album of original songs in 2002 with Heathen.
