The Brazilian pianist, composer and arranger João Donato (1934-2023) is an icon of bossa nova and introduced a new, original rhythm pattern to the genre. He was extremely influential and inspired generations of musicians. João Gilberto confessed to having adopted his bossa nova beat on the violão from Donato's piano playing. Donato's solo career has spanned twenty-nine albums since 1953. One of Donato's best albums ever is presented here in full length, recorded in 1962 in quartet format and with the great Milton Banana on drums: "A Bossa Muito Moderna de João Donato".
