Lankum
Between The Earth And Sky
"Lankum are the new darlings of Dublin's 300-year-old folk scene, and not just according to the Guardian. The musicians impress with their four-part harmony singing and their highly innovative arrangements, which they create from an Irish-traditional instrumentation. Their songs are classic Traveller songs that mix Irish folk with a dash of Americana - perfect songs for the road
The band consists of brothers Ian and Daragh Lynch, along with Cormac MacDiarmada and Radie Peat. When they're not touring, Ian teaches traditional music at University College in Dublin, while MacDiarmada and Peat train other musicians on concertina and fiddle. As a band, Lankum don't see themselves as purists; rather, they want to explore new frontiers in the age-old genre, and sometimes deliberately push the envelope. With their debut album ""Between The Earth And Sky"" the four now let new light shine through old windows. Their music, inspired by a variety of other styles, should give the Irish scene a mighty breath of fresh air."
