While writing the new album, Nilüfer retreated to the studio with her creative partner Wilma Archer (Sudan Archives/ Celeste). She was on tour for a year with her second album "Painless" and was in a phase of transition, between albums, between record labels and between homes.

"My Method Actor" has a lot to do with the idea of moving from one stage of life to another. The seeds for "My Method Actor" were planted in early 2023, but it wasn't until the spring of that year that the first shoots began to sprout. As the songs began to emerge, Yanya and Archer withdrew from the world.

"This is the most intense album in that sense," says Yanya. "Because it was just the two of us. We didn't let anyone else into that bubble." They wrote and recorded in small sessions, spread across London, Wales and Eastbourne. The album's atmosphere reflects this cocoon of creative energy: it envelops the listener in cinematic sweeps, while simultaneously feeling intimate, inviting them into the small world they created and revealing its secrets.
