Orbital was critically and commercially successful, which is not necessarily standard for this genre. They were also known for their emphasis on improvisation during live performances, something that is instead the exception with techno acts. Other early electro acts influenced them, including punk. They headlined at Glastonbury Festival, the Royal Albert Hall and the Tribal Gathering, among others. The first Orbital album (also known as one or "Green Album") from 1991 was a milestone in electronic music. It is a convincing album length and delivers three classics of the very finest kind with "Speedfreak", "Chime", and "Midnight". Actual songs are the exception rather than the rule in this genre.
