Mike Skinner aka The Streets has announced "The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light", his band's first regular album in twelve years. The follow-up to the 2020 mixtape "None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive" will be The Streets' seventh album.

The first single "Troubled Waters" is directly reminiscent of the good old The Streets sound, albeit in a modern guise, and is sure to appeal to Mike Skinner fans.

The new album will be accompanied by the premiere of Skinner's first feature film, which bears the same name as the record. The artist from Birmingham created the 80-minute film almost entirely on his own and, in addition to directing, sound and financing, he also acted, produced and wrote it himself.

"It took seven long years to work on this movie and album," says Skinner. "It's something I've always wanted to do, and after dabbling with a few short films and music videos, I felt I was ready. I tried to go the traditional route for a while, but it always helped me to follow my instinct and just get on with it myself, so I directed it, acted in it, edited it, mixed the sound, financed it and produced it all as well as writing it. The album wouldn't exist without the movie." According to Mike Skinner, the movie "The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light" will be an offbeat noir thriller set in the London club scene.
