Born in Kobe, Japan, the highly respected trumpeter Takuya is a forward-thinking musician who has developed a unique, hybrid sound that blends soulful jazz, funk, post-bop, fusion and hip-hop music. He moved to New York to study jazz and contemporary music at the New School in Union Square.
It was here that Takuya met singer José James, with whom he worked on the projects "Blackmagic" and "No Beginning No End". After graduating, Takuya further established himself in the NYC jazz scene, working with artists such as Akoya Afrobeat and in recent years with DJ Premier's band BADDER. Already incredibly prolific, Takuya Kuroda has released five albums in the last decade and has built a solid reputation on the global jazz scene.
