Schizophrenia, recorded in 1967 and released by Blue Note in 1969, finds saxophonist Wayne Shorter leading a superb sextet featuring Curtis Fuller, James Spaulding, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Joe Chambers. Shorter's adventurous compositions balance post-bop complexity with memorable melodies and rich ensemble writing. Made during his time with the Miles Davis Quintet, it captures one of jazz's great composers at his creative peak. An underrated Blue Note gem for serious collectors.
