2023 is finally here! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs' first album in nine years, new music from Karen O., Nick Zinner and Brian Chase.

"Cool It Down" is the title of the band's fifth album. Certainly a reminiscence of The Velvet Underground and their song of the same name, but perhaps also a climate policy appeal.

The topic of environmental destruction plays a major role in the album's opener "Spitting Off The Edge Of The World". Karen O. says: "I see the younger generations staring at this threat and they are on the edge of a precipice, facing what is coming with anger and defiance. It's a wake-up call and gives hope." The song is also the first single from "Cool It Down" and a real synth-pop anthem.

A total of eight new songs can be found on the album, which the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have once again recorded with their long-time producer Dave Sitek from TV On The Radio. Sitek also comes from the vibrant New York underground rock scene, which produced exciting bands such as The Strokes, LCD Soundsystem and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs in the early 2000s.

The trio from New York is still characterized by the same freedom and creativity as 20 years ago, as "Cool It Down" impressively proves.
